The Blog Pressure Is On...and The 'FUN' workout

(I made it to the red band!!!! pretty soon....no band!lol)
(he attempted to do 78lb weighted pullup...he was so close)
(sorry Rob but kaika was closer than you)
(Since I am the 'Filipino in Pink' I thought this photo was appropriate)

Ok so the pressure for results in the blog world are ON.  As Rod's blog has shown....if we don't have new posts we get blog threats.  Mostly that is usually reserved for Rod but who knows who could be next.   And now that Rod has accused me of posting 15 pictures per post now I really need to live up to my reputation for multi-picture blogs.  Not that I mind but now I really got to remember to take pictures at the gym.

It's really hard to choose pictures for the blog.  For one I don't want to look fat....who does.  So out of 10 pictures taken maybe you get one picture that lives up to your delusion of self image.  And because I don't want to embarrass or offend any of my fellow RFMers (Rob excluded for this blog because that was a good picture) I am hesitant to post any pictures that I take that are not in my family.  Hence the pictures of....me. :) (so if I take pictures of you, I'd like you to know that I take that responsibility very seriously and if one day I end up posting it, know that I spent a lot of time choosing and making sure it represented you properly)

For example: The pictures of my husband....Ikaika.  (Sorry, husband I know you usually like to linger in the background and go unnoticed.)  But, I have seen the hard work and dedication he devotes to CrossFit and has seen his gradual progress he's made in the short time he's been apart of RFM....and honestly I am extremely proud of him.  (I know totally sappy.... but, don't worry I will raz him later and make the status quo even again later.)  So anyway, props to him and everyone else that has made equal to better progress in CrossFit. All of you are very inspiring to me!

Sooooooooooo, now that that is done with......I can recap yesterday for you. (and here you go Rod my "pages and pages of blog material")

So I was at work looking for the workout posting for Fridays WOD.  Usually I work at the worst time on Fridays and can't make the workout, so I was hoping to find a very gruesome, terribly disgusting WOD that I would laugh and say, "ha, glad I'm not going to be there."  But, instead I find an AMRAP (as much reps as possible) WOD that looks like it would be super fun, and that tackles all my problem areas.

Ok ok.....so let me explain.

Robert saw my comment about the wod looking "fun" and asked me "what the heck do you find fun about it?" (this question was accompanied with a look that said to me 'you've completely lost your marbles')  I didn't really have an answer for him when he asked but I think I have an answer now.

Lets start with what the WOD was:
5 rounds:
0:30 dips (ring/bar/bench)= " NO MORE GRAMA ARMS!"
0:30 rest
0:30 air squats = "TAME THE JUNK IN THE TRUNK"
0:30 rest
0:30 sit-ups = "SPARE TIRE REPAIR!"
0:30 rest
Score is total reps completed over all 5 rounds

The "Fun" in this WOD.....

To me it's a workout that targets all areas on my body that are what I consider my problem areas.   The "fun" part is...seeing my problem areas shrink.  I don't really care how difficult it is.  and actually the harder it is the better it is...   As I said in my first blog...."results are a must!" So bring it!  And once I'm in "fun mode" I am a happy camper.  Sure it hurts....sure I swear under my breath that this is the most terrible workout ever....sure I'd like to throw something at Oran for changing the music to slow hiphop when what I need is RAGING music...sure I feel like collapsing afterward....but I know my work will be rewarded.  And that is me just enjoying "playtime"!  Everyone has their own "fun" workout..... and for me....dips, squats, and situps are mine.

So whats your 'Fun' workout?

***BTW: I almost made Gladys go to the 6am WOD with me so I wouldn't have to miss what I deemed a worthy WOD.  (Bless her heart she was actually going to do it too.)  Fortunately for her and for me, I was able to finagled Craig into changing our schedule so I could enjoy the workout at a more reasonable time for my muscles to be working in that capacity.  Thank you very much Craig, because not only did he allow me time for the gym but also after we learned that my son was sick and had a fever he offered to stay home and watch him while I go off and torture my body.  Thanks guys you are both awesome...nothing says kinship more than providing opportunity for torturing one another. :)

  1. 'Fun' workout? One that is both mentally and physically challenging...you are not sure you can finish until you hear everyone encouraging you and cheering you on. It ends with a smile on your face.

I agree that Friday's WOD looked fun. Since I still had considerable jet-lag when my husband went to crossfit - I decided to stay at home and nap. Full of energy when he got home I made him time me so I could complete the Friday RFM WOD. Dips are still out of the question so I modified with a bent-over row 18lb KB: 93/90/87.

AMEN Rikki! Bring on the RAGE! Next time I'm trying to workout and "Fireworks" plays I swear I'm gonna toss a kettlebell through the speakers.

Re: Fun workouts...I have one word for you...AIRFORCE! If you don't know what that is ask any of the coaches or long time RFM members.

P.S. Thanks for the weighted pull-ups props, but Ikaika is still the man!
